Obverse description A standing llama facing right occupies the plain field at center, rendered in moderate relief with fine detail on the animal's body and head. The mint name POTOSI appears in incuse lettering within a recessed panel along the lower exergue. The coin's border is decorated with a continuous beaded rim encircling the entire design.

Reverse description A bold depiction of Cerro Rico, the famous mountain of Potosí, rises prominently at center in the field. A llama stands to the left of the mountain's base, while a sheaf of grain appears to the right, together symbolizing Bolivia's natural and agricultural wealth. Nine five-pointed stars are arranged in an arc above the mountain, framing the design. The date 1852 is inscribed in the lower exergue beneath the mountain. A finely executed beaded border encircles the entire reverse design.
