| Obverse description | Diademed and draped bust of Emperor Justinian I facing right, rendered in the debased late antique style characteristic of Western imperial coinage struck at Ravenna. The emperor's portrait is depicted with a pearl diadem and imperial drapery. The surrounding field carries the Latin imperial legend partially visible around the bust. The portrait exhibits the somewhat crude, high-relief execution typical of hammered silver fractions of this period and mint. |
