| Obverse description | Pearl-diademed, draped, and cuirassed imperial bust facing right, rendered in the late antique barbaric style characteristic of Gepid coinage. The effigy is surrounded by a partially legible Latin legend in the name of the Eastern Emperor Justin I. The portrait, while derivative of Byzantine prototypes, displays the schematized features typical of barbarian imitative silver coinage of the early sixth century. |
