Obverse description Left-facing draped and cuirassed bust of Gerardo Spinola, Marquis of Arquata, with long flowing hair falling over his shoulders, rendered in high relief in the late Baroque portrait style. The effigy occupies the central field, with fine detailing visible on the armour breastplate and drapery at the shoulder. The encircling Latin legend reads GERARDVS · SPIN · MR · ARQVATÆ · TE · S · R · I ·, separated from the portrait by a plain inner border, and the whole contained within an outer beaded border.
