| Popis rubu | Central field displays the denomination QUARTO DI RUPIA in two lines of bold Latin lettering, below which the equivalent value is rendered in Arabic script (ربع روپیه). A royal crown surmounts the central design at the top of the field. Flanking the central inscriptions are two symmetrical sprays of rose branches with flowers and foliage. The date 1910 appears at the base flanked by small stars, with the Rome mint mark R above it, and the word PROVA (trial) inscribed to the left of the crown. The legend SOMALIA ITALIANA curves along the upper periphery within the milled border. |

Italian Somaliland's rupee-denominated coinage was a deliberate concession to the monetary habits of the Horn of Africa and Arabian Peninsula trade networks, where the Maria Theresa thaler and Indian rupee already dominated. The 1910 series required Rome's approval before production could begin at the Rome Mint, and trial strikes like this piece were submitted as part of that authorization process. Very few were produced.
KM#Pr6 is one of the rarer pattern designations in the Italian colonial series.
