Kishangarh's coinage occupied an awkward administrative position during this period — the state struck its own silver in the name of both the reigning maharaja and the British sovereign, a dual-authority arrangement formalized under the subsidiary alliance system that bound most Rajputana states to the Crown by the mid-nineteenth century. Madan Singh ruled Kishangarh from 1879 to 1900, meaning this issue sits precisely at the transition of his reign's end.
The "Regal Style" designation distinguishes this from earlier feudatory types struck to looser local standards, reflecting the gradual British push toward metrical uniformity across princely mints in the final decades of Victoria's reign.
