| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse bears three horizontal lines of Arabic legend arranged across the field, divided by two sweeping curved lines characteristic of the Mughal nastaliq calligraphic tradition. The uppermost register displays the regnal year ١٢٠٤ (AH 1204), the central register carries the name شاه عالم (Shah Alam), and the lower register reads بادشاه (Badshah, meaning Emperor). A small six-petalled rosette ornament appears at the centre of the field between the two curved dividing lines, flanked by numerals serving as additional dating elements. The flan edges exhibit fine vertical milling, and the overall design reflects the standardised Bengal Presidency milled coinage introduced at the Farrukhabad and Banaras mints. |
