Rajeswar Singha ruled Ahom for over sixteen years, a reign marked by persistent conflict with the Moamoria rebels and repeated Burmese incursions into the northeastern frontier. His coinage was struck in the traditional Ahom style that had persisted largely unchanged since the kingdom's consolidation in the Brahmaputra valley centuries earlier — a deliberate continuity that carried political weight in a reign under military pressure. The Ahom mint at this period operated under direct royal sanction, with issues tied closely to campaign financing and tribute systems rather than broad commercial circulation.
