Reverse description The central device, designed by George Kruger Gray, comprises a heraldic composition of three emblems arranged beneath an imperial crown: a Tudor rose to the left, a fleur-de-lis at the base, and a stylised sun or star flower to the right. Two small six-pointed stars flank the crown at the upper field. The surrounding legend reads MAURITIUS QUARTER RUPEE 1946, with the denomination separated by raised dots and the issuer name arching across the top. The whole is enclosed within a beaded border.
