Obverse description Left-facing crowned effigy of King George VI, wearing the Imperial State Crown, engraved by Percy Metcalfe with the initials 'PM' visible below the truncation. The legend GEORGE VI KING EMPEROR runs continuously around the periphery in raised Latin letters, bounded by an inner beaded border. The portrait is rendered in high relief with fine detail on the crown's arches, crosses, and fleurs-de-lis.
