| Obverse description | Bare-headed, draped bust of King Gustav II Adolf facing left, rendered in high relief in the early Baroque manner. Above the effigy, at the top of the inner field, the Hebrew Tetragrammaton (YHWH) appears within a radiant oval cartouche, symbolising divine authority over the king. Below the bust, the date 1617 flanks a decorative rose-like ornament. The legend GVSTAVVS . ADOLPHVS . REX runs along the outer border, separated from the central design by a beaded inner circle. |
