Additional information

Adolf Fredrik's reign coincided with Sweden's "Age of Liberty" parliamentary period, during which the Riksdag held nearly all executive power — the king famously refused to sign legislation he opposed by simply declining to appear at council meetings. The 1767–68 dating on this type spans a moment of acute fiscal stress: Sweden was running crippling deficits from earlier involvement in the Seven Years' War, and currency debasement debates dominated the Riksdag through both years.

The .878 fineness reflects a silver standard that was already under political pressure, with factions arguing for further reduction to ease debt servicing.
