Pedro IV of Aragon — "El Ceremonioso" — absorbed Majorca back into the Crown of Aragon in 1343 after a brief military campaign against his cousin Jaume III, ending the independent Mallorcan kingdom for good. These small gold fractions were struck under his authority across the remaining decades of his reign, likely to serve the island's active Mediterranean trade rather than any domestic political agenda.
