Obverse description Draped bust of Liberty facing right, her hair bound by a fillet inscribed LIBERTAD, with flowing locks visible at the nape. The circular legend REPUBLICA MEXICANA arcs around the upper field, flanked by two small eight-pointed stars at the lower left and right. The date 1838 appears in the exergue area below the bust. The coin exhibits a finely milled border of closely spaced beads.
