| Obverse description | Central field displays the numeral '19' set within a small circular boss, surrounded by a bold radiant sunburst of alternating long and short rays emanating outward. The composition commemorates the date of 19 April 1810, the Venezuelan declaration of independence. The entire design is enclosed within a raised inner ring, beyond which a finely milled border of short radial dashes frames the coin to the rim. The relief is bold and the execution primitively mechanical, characteristic of early republican emergency coinage. |
