| Obverse description | Central design features three volcanic peaks, the tallest and central volcano actively emitting a plume of smoke, rendered in fine relief against a plain field. A radiant sun with stylized rays rises above the erupting cone in the upper field. A horizontal line separates the mountain range from the date below, with the four-digit date inscribed in large numerals across the lower field. The mintmark 'H' for Heaton and Sons, Birmingham, appears centered beneath the date. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border running along the coin's circumference. |
