Obverse description Central field occupied by a tughra-style Arabic royal inscription in ornate calligraphy, identifying the ruler Husayn ibn Ali, King of the Hejaz and Sharif of Mecca. The central device is surrounded by a beaded inner circle, with additional Arabic legends filling the outer field in multiple registers. The numeral ٨ (8), denoting the mint or die number, appears prominently in the lower portion of the field. The overall design is executed in a traditional Ottoman-influenced style, with flowing script densely arranged across the flan.
