The legend, reading 'Abd al-Aziz Al Saud, King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia', is presented in multiple registers curving around the field, with the interlocking letterforms creating a highly decorative, almost interlaced effect characteristic of early Saudi coinage. The flat, unadorned field at the centre provides contrast to the richly detailed inscription surrounding it. No portrait, emblem, or additional device appears; the calligraphy itself constitutes the sole design element. The inscription is framed by a plain raised rim. |
