Obverse description The obverse features the elaborate calligraphic tughra of Abd al-Aziz ibn Saud rendered in bold raised Arabic script, filling the central field. The monogram is executed in an intricate interlocking style characteristic of Ottoman-influenced royal cyphers. Below the tughra, the Arabic date inscription سنة ١٣٤٣ (year 1343 AH) appears in the lower field. The design is contained within a raised rim with no additional border ornamentation.
