Obverse description Left-facing draped bust of King George V, crowned, with the engraver's initials B.M. (for Bertram Mackennal) incuse on the truncation. The surrounding legend reads GEORGIVS V REX IMPERATOR in Latin, enclosed within a beaded border. The portrait is rendered in a restrained classical style characteristic of MacKennal's Royal Mint coinage designs.
