Obverse description Bare-headed left-facing effigy of King George VI, modelled by Thomas Humphrey Paget, occupies the central field. The king is depicted with a plain truncation at the shoulder. The engraver's initials 'HP' appear at the lower right of the bust truncation. The surrounding legend reads GEORGIVS SEXTVS REX, arcing around the upper periphery, with a fine dentillated border encircling the entire design.
