| Obverse description | A stylised bird of prey displayed with wings spread and elevated, rendered in relief at the centre of the field in a bold, archaic Romanesque style. The creature faces forward with its body erect and talons visible at the base, the feather detailing of the wings indicated by incised lines. The central motif is enclosed within a beaded border running along the rim, typical of Norwegian medieval bracteate coinage of this period. The flan is irregular in shape, as is characteristic of hand-struck hammered issues. |
