| Beschrijving voorzijde | An elephant advancing to right occupies the central field, rendered in a stylized, primitive manner characteristic of Mysore copper coinage of the late 18th century. Above the elephant's back appears the Persian letter 'Te' (ط), serving as the initial of Tipu Sultan's mint authority. The design is boldly struck on an irregularly shaped flan with a granular surface typical of hammered copper issues of this period. |
