Tipu Sultan's coinage reform of 1787 scrapped the existing Mysore system entirely and introduced a new calendar, new denominations, and new mint names — Patan becoming one of several renamed facilities under the overhaul. The quarter paisa sat at the bottom of the copper hierarchy, struck in the final years before the Fourth Anglo-Mysore War ended Tipu's rule permanently at Seringapatam in 1799.
