Obverse description An elephant in profile facing left occupies the central field, rendered in the bold, stylized manner characteristic of Mysore copper coinage under Tipu Sultan. The animal is depicted with pronounced musculature and a raised trunk, with a howdah or rider visible on its back. The regnal year in the Mauludi calendar appears in the upper field above the elephant. The design is set within a plain circular border with an irregular flan edge typical of hammered copper issues.
