Pattern coinage from the Imperial Iranian Mint rarely surfaces in Western collections, and this bronze trial for the quarter Pahlavi is no exception. Patterns of this type were struck to test proposed designs or compositional changes before full production authorization — which, in this case, never came. The quarter Pahlavi denomination in gold continued as issued; this bronze trial exists purely as an artifact of the approval process.
