| Obverse description | Hammered gold field bearing a multi-line Persian inscription in flowing Nasta'liq-influenced Arabic script, arranged across the coin's face. The central legend reads 'Ya Karim' (O Generous One), an invocation of the ruler Karim Khan Zand, accompanied by the mint name Dar al-'Ilm Shiraz and the regnal year 1179 AH. The script is densely composed, filling the irregular flan with bold, raised calligraphic strokes characteristic of Zand-period coinage. The surface shows the typical uneven texture of a hand-struck hammered issue, with the legend occupying virtually the entire obverse field. |
