Obverse description Central field occupied by a bold, deeply struck multi-line Arabic legend executed in flowing nasta'liq script, reading 'Ya Karim' (O Generous One, an invocation of Karim Khan) above the mint formula 'Zarb Zarrabkhana-ye Mubaraka Rikab' (struck at the auspicious mint of Rikab), with the AH date 1178 inscribed in the lower portion of the field. The legend is framed within a cartouche-like arrangement of curvilinear script strokes, with the entire design enclosed by a continuous beaded border running along the coin's periphery. The flan is slightly irregular, consistent with hand-hammered production typical of Zand Dynasty gold coinage.
