Obverse description Central field displays a large calligraphic cartouche in ornate Nasta'liq script bearing the invocation 'Ya Karim' (O Generous One) along with the mint name and date. The inscription is arranged in a characteristic double-lobed shamseh (sunburst) cartouche form. A dotted border of pellets frames the entire design along the coin's irregular flan periphery. The strike is bold and slightly off-center, typical of hammered Zand-period gold coinage. The field surrounding the cartouche is plain and unadorned.
