Additional information

Karim Khan Zand never took the title of Shah, ruling instead as Vakil al-Ra'aya — "Regent of the People" — a deliberate choice that shaped coinage policy throughout his reign. The Qazvīn mint was among the more active provincial strikes under the Zands, though output varied considerably year to year depending on trade flows through the northern routes toward the Caucasus and Caspian.

Type C designations within this series reflect a die revision sequence documented by Album, distinguishing later muling arrangements from the earlier Type A and B strikes. Qazvīn-mint gold from this window is considerably scarcer than Isfahan production.
