| Obverse description | The Shi'ite kalima (profession of faith) inscribed in bold nasta'liq script across the field, divided into three registers by decorative horizontal rules. The legend reads: 'There is no god but God, Muhammad is the Messenger of God, Ali is the Friend of God.' A beaded inner border frames the inscription, with the flan showing typical irregular edges characteristic of hammered gold coinage of the Zand period. |
