| Beschrijving keerzijde | Reverse bears a royal inscription in flowing Arabic Nasta'liq script identifying the mint and regnal authority of Shah Tahmasp I, accompanied by the Hijri date 961. The mint name 'Urdu' (the royal military camp mint) appears prominently within the field, denoting coinage struck at the itinerant royal camp rather than a fixed urban mint. The date 961 AH (corresponding to 1554 CE) is inscribed in Eastern Arabic numerals. The inscription is distributed across the flan in multiple registers consistent with the compact format of this quarter-mithqal denomination, struck on an irregularly shaped hammered planchet. |
