Obverse description Small hammered copper flan bearing a two-line Arabic inscription within a rectangular cartouche at the top of the field, above a multi-line legend occupying the lower portion of the coin. The inscription reads 'Sultan Ibrahim Noor ad-Din', the ruling title and name of the issuing sultan. The script is boldly rendered in raised relief, characteristic of the hand-struck coinage of the Maldivian sultanate. The field shows typical irregularities of the hammered technique, with slightly uneven flan edges.
