Beschrijving keerzijde The denomination and date are inscribed in three lines at the center of the field, reading '1/4 KREU / ZER / 1808', with the medalist's initial 'L' below, all encircled by a wreath of oak leaves and acorns tied at the base. Aanvullende informatie

Nassau was reorganized as a duchy under the Confederation of the Rhine in 1806, consolidating a patchwork of previously separate Walramian and Ottonian lines. The dual attribution to Frederick William and Frederick August reflects that uneasy administrative merger — two ruling princes, briefly co-sovereign before Frederick August's line was absorbed entirely by 1816.

A gold pattern struck to a denomination worth fractions of a pfennig has no plausible circulation purpose. These were presentation pieces, almost certainly produced for court or diplomatic distribution. Schlumberger records only this single variety at this weight, suggesting extremely limited production.
