Obverse description Crowned imperial double-headed eagle displayed in the field, bearing on its breast a shield with the arms of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and hung with the collar and badge of the Order of the Golden Fleece. The eagle's talons clutch a sword to dexter and an imperial orb to sinister. A circular legend in Latin encircles the design, reading 'K·K·OESTERREICHISCHE SCHEIDEMUNZE·', denoting the coin's status as an Imperial and Royal Austrian token coinage (Scheidemünze) whose intrinsic metal value is less than its face value.
