正面铭文 WOLF TEOD D G AR EP SA A S L
背面描述 Square klippe flan with a central circular inner field bordered by a rope-twist and dotted beaded circle. At center, the enthroned figure of Saint Rupert of Salzburg, patron saint of the archbishopric, depicted facing forward wearing full episcopal vestments including mitre and cope, holding a pastoral staff (crozier) in his right hand and a salt barrel — his traditional attribute — in his left. A nimbus surrounds his head. The encircling Latin legend reads S RVDBERTEVS EPVS SALZBVRGENS, identifying the figure as Saint Rupert, Bishop of Salzburg.

附加信息

Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau, Archbishop of Salzburg from 1587, was a nephew of Cardinal Carlo Borromeo and used his position to reshape Salzburg along Counter-Reformation and Italian Renaissance lines — demolishing the medieval cathedral and beginning the architectural transformation that defines the city today. His reign ended not in death but in imprisonment; a territorial dispute with Bavaria over the salt trade led to his forced abdication in 1612 and confinement at Hohensalzburg, where he died five years later.

Klippe issues from Salzburg in this period were struck as presentation pieces rather than circulation currency, their square format signaling deliberate departure from ordinary coinage.
