| Obverse description | At center, the crowned Virgin Mary (Madonna) is depicted in bust or standing form, holding the Christ Child, rendered in baroque style. Below the Madonna, the heraldic shield of Archbishop Paris von Lodron is displayed within a rounded cartouche, surmounted by a cross and flanked by the cardinal's galero with its pendant tassels. The circumferential legend in Latin reads the full episcopal titulature of the Archbishop, invoking Marian protection. The design reflects the devotional Marian iconography characteristic of Counter-Reformation Salzburg coinage. The flat, square klippe flan gives the piece its distinctive quadrilateral form. |
