Obverse description Central field bears the crowned Dutch royal arms depicting a rampant lion holding a sword and bundle of arrows on a horizontally striped shield, surmounted by a large ornate crown. The denomination fraction '1/4' appears to the left of the shield and the denomination initial 'G' to the right. The circular legend 'NEDERL. INDIE.' arcs across the upper periphery, while the date '1885.' is inscribed in the exergue below the shield. Mint master and assayer marks are visible at the lower left and lower right of the shield.
