Obverse description Central field displays the crowned Dutch royal coat of arms, featuring a rampant lion holding a sword and bundle of arrows on a horizontally divided shield, surmounted by a royal crown with cross finial and pearl ornamentation. The denomination fraction '1/4' appears to the left of the shield and the currency initial 'G' to the right. The legend 'NEDERL. INDIE.' arcs around the upper periphery in bold serif capitals, separated by a central cross ornament. Two small decorative florets flank the shield at the lower sides, and the date appears in the exergue below, followed by a period stop.
