| Reverse description | Central device comprising an ornate crowned quartered shield of arms, displaying the royal arms of Great Britain as borne by George III, with the quarters representing England, Scotland, France, and Ireland, together with the Hanoverian inescutcheon. The divided date 17-62 appears above the shield on either side. The encircling Latin legend, engraved by John Tanner, runs around the periphery and records the king's full royal titles. The overall composition is finely detailed and consistent with the elegant heraldic style of British gold coinage of the period. |
