| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field displays a heraldic eagle displayed, rendered in a bold Gothic style characteristic of medieval Low Countries coinage. The eagle's wings are spread and its feathers are rendered in stylized relief with considerable detail. The figure is set within a beaded inner circle, surrounded by a circular Latin legend in uncial lettering reading LVDOVICVS COMES DLOS, identifying Louis as Count of Loon. The outer border is defined by a continuous beaded rim. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central device comprises an elaborate double-armed or patriarchal cross with crosslets at each terminal, set within a beaded inner circle. Four stylized trefoil or floral ornaments occupy the angles between the arms of the cross, lending the composition a decorative Gothic character. The surrounding circular Latin legend in uncial script reads MONETA NOVA HASSEL, attesting to the mint of Hasselt. The coin is enclosed by a beaded outer rim consistent with the hammered coinage of the region. |
