Reverse description A bold cross pattée divides the reverse field into four quarters, each containing ornamental elements consisting of pellets and annulets arranged in varying configurations, a hallmark design of Barcelona's medieval hammered silver coinage. The legend BARCKNONA runs around the periphery of the coin, referencing the city of Barcelona as the issuing authority. The lettering is rendered in Gothic script characteristic of late 15th- and early 16th-century Iberian coinage. The cross extends to the rim, and the quadrants are filled with decorative dot and ring motifs. The flan is irregular and the strike is typical of hand-hammered production.
