| Obverse description | Crowned bust of Ferdinand II facing left, rendered in a medieval style with straight hair falling in distinct strands behind the neck. The monarch wears an ornate crown with prominent fleurons. The bold letter B appears in the right field, serving as a mintmark for Barcelona. The portrait is struck in low relief typical of hammered Catalan coinage of the late fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries, with the effigy occupying the central field within an irregular flan. |
