| Obverse description | Central field bears the rampant lion of Flanders within a plain inner circle, rendered in a bold late-medieval Gothic style with detailed mane and claws. The lion is depicted passant-rampant facing left, with a crowned head, set against a plain field. A beaded inner border frames the central device, with the surrounding legend in uncial Latin characters distributed evenly around the periphery.
