Reverse description The denomination 1/4 FRANC and date 1834 are displayed in three lines within the field, enclosed by a symmetrical wreath of oak leaves and acorns tied at the base. A five-pointed star appears below the date at the base of the wreath. The design is boldly struck with strong relief against a deeply mirrored field, characteristic of a proof pattern issue. The oak wreath, a recurrent motif in early Belgian coinage, frames the central inscription with elegant symmetry.
