The youthful royal portrait is rendered in high relief with naturalistically styled hair. The circumferential Latin legend reads: + LVDOVICVS. XIII. D: G. FRAN. ET. NAV. REX, identifying the king as Louis XIII, by the grace of God, King of France and Navarre. The legend is separated by crosses and punctuated with dots, bordered by a toothed inner rim. |
