Obverse description The obverse features a circular zodiac wheel divided into twelve segments, each containing a stylized cartoonish portrait of one of the twelve animals of the Chinese lunar calendar alongside its name rendered in both French and Chinese characters. At the centre of the design, a yin-yang symbol occupies the inner field, superimposed with the denomination '1/4 €' and the Republican monogram 'RF'. The twelve animals depicted clockwise are: Cochon (Pig), Rat, Boeuf (Ox), Tigre (Tiger), Lapin (Rabbit), Dragon, Serpent (Snake), Cheval (Horse), Chèvre (Goat), Singe (Monkey), Coq (Rooster), and Chien (Dog). The overall composition is rendered in a unified relief style with a satin finish across the field.
