| Obverse description | Highly detailed depiction of the Longmen Grottoes UNESCO World Heritage Site in China. Dominating the left field is a large frontal bust of the colossal Vairocana Buddha of the Fengxian Temple, rendered in high relief with draped robes and serene expression. To the lower right, two elaborately adorned attendant figures — a bodhisattva and a heavenly guardian — are depicted in medium relief amid lotus and floral motifs. The upper right field shows a panoramic view of the cliff face honeycombed with cave temples and staircases. Chinese characters reading 龙石门窟 appear to the right, the legend LES GROTTES DE LONGMEN arcs along the upper rim, the date 2026 is inscribed to the left, and the RF monogram (République Française) appears in the central field. |
