| Reverse description | Central cross formed by four interlaced double Ls, the royal cipher of Louis XIV, with a fleur-de-lis placed in each of the four angles between the arms of the cross. A small crowned oval cartouche bearing the mint mark is positioned at the centre of the cross. The whole composition is surmounted by a royal crown at the top of the cross. Four crowned shields bearing the arms of France are visible in the inter-cantons. The circumferential Latin legend CHRS REGN VINC IMP — an abbreviation of Christus regnat, vincit, imperat (Christ reigns, conquers, commands) — encircles the entire design. |
