Obverse description Central field features an elaborate floriated cross composed of four fleurs-de-lis arranged at the terminals, with trefoil ornaments at the angles and a central rosette at the intersection. The date appears in the upper legend between the cross arms. The surrounding circular legend in Latin reads the royal titulature of Henri IV, King of France and Navarre, with the regnal year incorporated into the inscription. The overall design is executed in the late Renaissance hammered style characteristic of French royal coinage of the period.
